The Ranchero ended production in 1979 and the El Camino in 1987. Some as standard equipment and others as options.Īs a side note, the Chevy El Camino outlasted the Ford Ranvhero. Eventually GM’s regular pickup models took on all these luxury appointments and more. What set the El Camino apart in the GM stable were all the luxury extras. Classified as a coupe/utility, the Chevy El Camino was sold along with the Chevrolet truck line. Both vehicles offered passenger car comfort and passenger car styling along with the utility of a pickup truck. Just like the Ford Ranchero, the El Camino was categorized as a crosesover utility vehicle. Recognizing the success of these type vehicles, Chevrolet decided to go ahead with the El Camino. Ford’s development of the Ranchero was a result of the success the Ford Ute attained in Australia during the early 1950’s. Ford came out with their Ranchero two years earlier and with good success. They feature significantly higher rates, performance end links and Delrin lined bushings. An adjustable panhard bar is included to allow the axle to centered at the new ride height. The lower arms feature the air spring bracket for which bolts in place of the stock coil springs, keeping the load where is belongs. They utilize R-Joint Technology to provide smooth operation and reduce roll bind. *The Rear StrongArms provide added strength to help get the power to the pavement. The rear shocks simply bolt in place of the factory shocks. Bolt-on brackets are included to relocate the front shocks to the rear side of the lower StrongArms. They come standard with a 1,000,0001 Mile Warranty. They allow fine tuning of the rebound dampening to adjust ride quality and handling.
